ARC: Also Known as Harper by Ann Haywood Leal

images-3I have just finished my ARC of the YA novel Also Known as Harper. The author has actually agreed to do an interview with me, so I am going to save my review of the book until I have completed the interview.  My very first author interview….. how exciting!

This is my third book I have completed for the read-a-thon.  I am going to attempt one more this evening.

Sundays at Tiffany’s by James Patterson

Okay- so I have to admit, I took a HUGE break in the middle of the day. For about five hours. It was too nice out and I had stuff to do. Oh well, I am back to reading now for a bit, in between cleaning the house. I have just finished Sunday’s at Tiffany’s, so I guess I better do a review before I forget to do so.

This was a good choice for the read-a-thon.  Quick and easy reading and entertaining.

As a young girl, Jane Margaux has an imaginary friend.  He is the only one who is there for her and doesn’t let her down.  But on her ninth birthday he leaves, as all imaginary friends do, promising her that it will be okay, she won’t remember him as time goes on.

The problem is she does remember Michael.  Twenty-three years after Michael disappeared, Jane is working on producing the a movie that tells the story of Jane and Michael’s friendship.  She is a successful producer with a handsome actor boyfriend, yet she is not happy.  And then she sees him.  Michael is back, but this time he doesn’t seem to be so imaginary. Is Michael an angel?  Will he have to leave again?  Why has he come back into Jane’s life at this moment?  And what happens when your “imagainary friend form childhood [is] your one true love?”

Read-a-Thon First Hour Post

Where are you reading from today?  My house, maybe my backyard if the weather cooperates.  Might even head to the coffee shop at some  point just for a change of scenery

3 facts about me …  I am an English teacher, my dog just had surgery this week and has a lampshade on his head and I drink way too much coffee

How many books do you have in your TBR pile for the next 24 hours?  I have an obscene TBR pile currently, but my goal is to get through three maybe four? books today

Do you have any goals for the read-a-thon (i.e. number of books, number of pages, number of hours, or number of comments on blogs)?  See above answer

If you’re a veteran read-a-thoner, Any advice for people doing this for the first time?  This is my first time

24 Hour Read-a-thon

Well, tomorrow is the read-a-thon.  It is also my first day off in over three weeks, so I am debating my participation in the full 24 hours.  I will take it as it comes.  I do have a very nice swing in my backyard that is calling me to come sit on and read, but I also have a yard full of leaves and fallen twigs and such that is calling me to come pick up.  Whose voice will win out?  We shall see.  I will commit to trying to read at least two books tomorrow.  I would like to finish “The Help” tomorrow and then perhaps take it light and easy and go for Janet Evanovich or a YA choice.  Oh yes, and I have an ARC of  “Also Known as Harper” which I plan to finish.  Okay, so maybe I will participate after all.
